The Mob Mentality and "E-Thug Tough Guy" Culture of the Internet

Lately I have found myself disgusted with the way people act online. Get over yourselves. You are not a badass. You are not an Ultimate Fighter. Stop acting like one just because you are protected by virtual anonymity and granted with the power to insult and degrade other human beings for posting their thoughts and ideas that you may disagree with behind the safety of your computer screen and in the comfort of your living room.

Fact:

Signing up for an OS account before somebody else does not make you smarter, nor your opinion more meaningful than anybody elses.

OS was the best sports gaming community I ever saw when I first stumbled onto here over a year ago randomly. I was blown away. This was the only place I ever wanted to be in regards to news and tidings regarding sports video games.

I think it sucks that nowadays I feel literally afraid to post on here because of the instant "STFU NOOB" type responses that run rampant and unpoliced. People, we are ALLOWED to DISAGREE!!!! There are MANY points of view!

Madden 12 and NCAA 12 look amazing. EA is finally, finally, briding the gap between this generation of games and the last in terms of gameplay, and the graphics on top are just icing in the cake. I still remember playing NCAA 06 on my PS2 with my roommate. We created one-star schools and went about 13 seasons in, meeting in the BCS game twice. Those were great times and great games. This year looks like, by far, the most promising of the bunch and I just hope I will be able to intelligently discuss and debate over their strengths and weaknesses without being unfairly targeted by a group of e-thugs that seem to "run things" around here, at least in their own mind, while the mods watch over.

I agree... Some people act like your atacking them personally when you disagree with them... And the worse ones are the people that get literally pissed off when you ask a simple question lol...

Some people HATE EA regardless of how much they have improved these games over the years... I'm a big 2K fan, and will always regard NFL 2k5 as the most "complete" football game ever, however, I know Madden 12 will be good and fun to play. I'm not going to say "EA Sucks" if I see one or two things that I don't like... If you wanna see how far they've come on PS3/360, just pop in a copy of Madden 08 for either system, and its mind blowing how much different Madden 11 is...

NO game will ever be perfect, there will always be things in the games that you are just going to have to deal with... People take this stuff too seriously sometimes and it really does get annoying reading through the same "EA bashing" threads over and over and over again... WE GET IT, you don't like EA, but don't ruin the fun of people that do enjoy the games...

Good blog. I agree with you. I've been here for years but I rarely post so I've been hit with the "you only have x number of posts so you don't know anything" diatribe before. This is an informative site but some of the regular posters in the forums have grown more and more arrogant and obnoxious over the years.

This is funny coming from someone who threatened legal action against a poster for saying your "panties were in a bunch". And then claimed said poster was a terrorist. Actually it's funny coming from someone who did it multiple times to multiple posters for such a benign comment.

Post counts are dumb, I agree. People should be judged around here based on their post quality and contributions to the forums. But if you are that hypersenstive, the internet may not be the place for you.

6' and 185 @ 14? That's kinda tall and a heavier than normal weight. Don't be surprised if you don't end up 6-6, but you will prolly hit 6-3 if you layoff all the cigs and other growth inhibiting factors.

I was 5'11'' when I was 15 and started smoking a year after. Needless to say, I'm still standing at 5'11''.

good post. I stopped going to the MLB TheShow part of this site because you can't say anything negative/constructive criticism there without the Show-stoppers getting all defensive & whiny.
